Synopsis
Frankie McGuire, one of the IRA's deadliest assassins, draws an American family into the crossfire of terrorism. But when he is sent to the U.S. to buy weapons, Frankie is housed with the family of Tom O'Meara, a New York cop who knows nothing about Frankie's real identity. "Don't look for a happy ending. It's not an American story. It's an Irish one." I stepped completely blind into Alan J. Pakula's the Devil's Own and didn't anticipate on Brad Pitt playing an IRA assassin and having a Irish accent. And him staying at a family man/police officer's house played by Harrison Ford was a setting I really enjoyed. Anyway, the plot wasn't all that interesting but the action was decent and everyone was great. Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt had chemistry and their scenes together were fun to watch. And seeing Karen, I mean Natascha McElhone, show up on my screen was a gift! I always like her! The Devil's Own is worth a watch for sure just so you can enjoy the scenes between Pitt and Ford and enjoy Pitt's Irish action and I think the ending was really solid.

If this was made in 2023 I'd say it was written by AI due to the sheer amount of clichés and stereotypes depicted.
