Mixing elements of realism and surrealism, in his latest work Aki Kaurismäki shows us, once again, the harshness and misery of what being an immigrant in the XXI comprises. Not of course without sparkling such harsh reality with a touch of hope and great comedy. As per usual, the photography is one of the strongest elements of his films alongside the clever use of a fantastic and very catchy score and of course, heartwarming and very _human_ characters. Hope is still out there.
I could tell it was an art film by the way, in set design and acting it resembled an English as a Second Language training film. That said, for an art film, it wasn't too bad.
