Als Inspector Morse wurde er berühmt – aber hier ist er noch ein junger Oxford-Abbrecher im Jahr 1965, der nach einer Zeit beim Royal Corps of Signals zur Polizei geht. Schnell ist er durch die raue Wirklichkeit bei der Strafverfolgung desilluioniert und möchte den Dienst quittieren – als er mit Kollegen nach Oxford geschickt wird um das Verschwinden einer fünfzehnjährigen Schülerin zu untersuchen.

Endevavur is on my "Top-5" series of all times. I strongly recommend it to the ones who love English detective series. I wanted to comment after I finished the final season.
This is one of those near perfect shows, nearly every episode was top notch for me.
There are a number of really very good episodes but not enough to displace the original show, which has far more, and of course the books. In many of the bad ones is a tendency to overplay the operatic, the classical music, and the reasons for what still emerges as a bitter soul at the heart of it. Thaw's Morse was a more rounded individual with more smiles and lightness of heart. Seasons 1, 2, 4 and 5 are the best ones imvho.
