It’s nice to see a throwback sex comedy/romp comp but the characters are pretty insufferable. It’s funny how much set up they have to layout just in the opening credits. While I respect that they keep it fairly grounded, the movie and the humor would have benefited from more wacky hijinks throughout their journey. Between this and Totally Killer, Kiernan Shipka is not a comic actress.

I really enjoyed this movie. I wasn’t expecting to, but I really, really did. I’m not the intended audience but as someone, a long, long time ago in college, fell madly in love with my high school best friend, it resonated in me. It has some laugh out loud parts. It also has some roll your eyes moments. Considering it’s a Gen Z young adult movie and I’m an elder Millennial, I wasn’t made to feel as out of touch as other recent movies of this genre. It didn’t make me leave me feeling old - which is rare these days. It’s a relief to know that even after all this time, raunchy rom-coms still stand the test of time.
