The writing is messy, and not nearly as deep as it thinks it is. It's a pity, because there are hints of something great peeking through here. Still happy I got to see Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie on the big screen. Two of the best we have, they can make even the clunkiest dialogue feel meaningful. Score by Joe Hisaishi... It's not bad, but it just felt so... bland? It feels like it should be a film brimming with charm and chemistry to complement the deeper personal themes it tries to explore, but it ultimately falls flat because it lacks that exact charm I found myself begging for. Colin and Margot are so often in films where they shine, giving performances loaded with charisma. But here it feels like both actors had their charisma surgically extracted. It's bizarre to see. They had more chemistry together in the interviews promoting the film than they did in the film itself.

Like a 6-minute cover of a pop song: cliché, blabby, and goes on too long. A man and a woman share a romantic fantasy with a GPS. At least I got to look at Margot Robbie for what felt like forever.

I was really excited to see this once I saw the trailer for it. This seemed like my type of movie. They definitely attempted to take some bold risks but I don’t think it all worked. It’s a bit slow and really does drag at moments. I did like Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie. I thought they had pretty good chemistry together but lacked a real spark. I liked a lot of the themes that they address on the journey but it never really came to fruition for me. There’s a lot of good in here that I really liked but something was ultimately missing. It tried to be big and bold but ultimately fell a bit short. I might be missing something here and there’s still more to breakdown and understand but for now these are my thoughts. Ultimately I think I’ll leave it at this because I’m not so sure I’ll feel the need to ever revisit this. * AMC Crestwood 18
