I was surprised at the amount of skin in this, which is not to say there is a lot, but there is some, and that is more than I expected. This movie has the look and feel of a classic Universal horror movie, only without the budget and talent. The plot is paper thin: a group of "playgirls" - they're dancers - go to a castle, there is a vampire, the end. The least worst part of this movie is the third act, up until then, it's pretty weak. The biggest flaw in The Playgirls and the Vampire, common in many poorly-written horror movies, is that it thinks it has to be a comedy until the horror shows up; trouble is, the horror never shows up, so we're left with a bad comedy, and a weak romance. I have to admit, there is an odd charm to this... it's an Italian film trying to be a 1930s gothic horror, but it's made in the '60s. Plus, I miss the days when slapping a bitch around in order to calm her down was acceptable in movies - mostly because it is obviously counterproductive. I think _Airplane!_ really put the nail in the coffin with that one. Look there's not much to say about this movie, it's barely over an hour long, and it can't make the simplest gothic-vampire formula work. The characters are mostly annoying. The dialog, and acting are so bad it almost reaches the level of satire. Unless you just have to see the missing link between the gothic beauty of classic Universal horror, and the renaissance of daring Hammer horror, skip this.
