I have always been a big animation fan but have not gotten into the latest superhero cartoons that have become so popular. I have stuck mostly to classic Warner Bros and MGM cartoons. However given the strength of "Justice League: The New Frontier" I'll have to seriously consider watching more of them. The storyline is adult and there is a surprising amount of violence. The plot is pretty thin but most of the movie's run time concentrates on Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter. Superman Batman and Wonder Woman play secondary roles with Flash getting more screen time. The Justice League presented here is not like the one portrayed in the corny kidsy "SuperFriends" cartoons of the 70's. It is at times a very serious film. The animation on this DVD is a mixed bag. I was very impressed by the opening title sequence and the dogfight that appears at the start of the movie. The most disappointing thing about the animation was the lack of character detail in many of the shots. The final battle with the villain named "The Centre" was pretty exciting and the conclusion was satisfying.

Damn fine adaptation and a more adult, sophisticated version of these popular characters. It's a treat for anyone looking for a retro styled version of these guys origin.

A bold and exciting take on the DC Universe, _Justice League: New Frontier_ delivers a thrilling adventure. The story follows an ancient evil known as the Centre that rises to threaten mankind; meanwhile several superheroes emerge to meet the challenge. The ‘50s setting adds an interesting aspect to the story, and is enhanced by the retro animation style. Additionally, an all-star cast that features David Boreanaz, Neil Patrick Harris, Lucy Lawless, and Kyra Sedgwick has been assembled. However, the film feels fragmented and the villain isn’t developed very well. Yet while it has a few problems, _Justice League: New Frontier_ is an ambitious feature that’s quite entertaining.

In my recent binge of DC Animated films, this one is pretty average. Nothing too remarkable to recommend, but also worth watching if you are a fan of these films. Rating: 3/5 - 75% - Worth Watching
