You know, I don't know how many times they're going to retell Superman's story. Although the stories are slightly different, the retelling of Superman's origins kind of getting old. Sometimes I think these "new" superman movies are more about subtly inject political messages, as they're aware that there are many DC and Marvel fans. I'm not going to say this movie was terrible, but at the same time I wouldn't consider this a "must see."
Best thing about the movie was Lobo.
I dont care for this animation style, reminds me of cheap shockwave animations from the 2000s. The story is ok but i dont think anyone really needed another early years story. I would love to see the Superman movies 1-3 reimagined in animation :ok_hand_tone1:
The film is a nonsensical action flick that lacks a proper story. From the beginning, it fails to explore Clark's fear of being an alien among humans and how aliens are typically portrayed by them; this aspect is only touched upon briefly. The narrative jumps to his adulthood, where he moves to a big city after leaving Kansas. However, his transitions, the threats he faces, and the villains are poorly developed. Initially, Lex Luthor is teased as the primary villain, but then characters like Lobo and a creature resembling Doomsday are introduced, as well as a third villain created by two others. Lois Lane's portrayal is cringe-worthy; she comes across as narcissistically obsessed with uncovering stories, even attempting to steal from a fellow reporter. Her character feels wasted, contributing little to the film's progression. While a movie can be a slow burn and still be engaging, this one falters due to its lack of meaningful content. The storytelling is mediocre, the animation below contemporary standards, and the visual style looks outdated. Additionally, the music is underutilized. The action sequences lack excitement, making it difficult to root for Superman's success. In conclusion, this film is a mediocre character origin story, and I would not recommend watching it.
A mediocre Superman tale with some amusing moments, excluding Lobo.
