Paul Rudd's version > Nick Jonas' version
Not a film was all that hyped to watch tbh but I thought I’d see if it could surprise me but it’s kinda what I’d thought it would be it’s not a bad film just a little bit of a generic one. The story was hard to get into for the first half I wasn’t that keen on the characters either so that made it harder for me to enjoy the story. I’ve watched surprisingly most of Paul Rudd’s movies so I know how great he can be I’m not sure he’s picking the right movies lately death of the unicorn, Anacanda and now Power ballad all three aren’t bad films but none of them are amazing and I think Rudd is way better than them movies. I’m surprised I didn’t enjoy this more though because Nick jonas I’ve liked since his Camp Rock days and I love the Jonas Brothers I don’t know they didn’t do a great job with his character enough for me to care to much about it. Sandy was probably my favourite character he just doesn’t give a shit about anything it was funny he pretended to be Danny’s security to get backstage and his friendship with Rick was wholesome. The music was okay I guess “I wrote a song about you” is one of them ones that annoyingly gets stuck in your head for some reason and that section is the only part I know lol. A big thing that I did appreciate about Power Ballad it shined a light on what the music industry can be like and the way artists can be treated and pressured into doing things they don’t actually want to do and btw Mac was one annoying son of a bitch couldn’t stand him. The main thing that saved this movie from me giving it a lower rating was the ending that was done very well and the mother and daughter felt more likeable and it was nice the film ended on a positive note at least still will only give this a 6/10.
Is this movie likeable? Yes. Enjoyable? Sure. Well-acted? Yes, I would say so. So why only a 6? The music is absolutely terrible. I realize that I am probably in the minority when I say that, but the music felt like it was aimed at teenage girls. One cheeseball hook after another, and we have to try to pretend like there is some emotional moment going on. That said, because it was likeable on other levels, it isn't the worst movie in the world. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
This started out pretty good. I was digging the music and the whole wedding band story. The longer this went on it began to drag. I really enjoyed the scene with Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas. Up until that point I was really enjoying the movie. After that scene things began to slog along. I liked Paul Rudd overall here. He was good and was a really likable character. You can absolutely feel for him in this. I liked the music as a whole. Something just kind of felt like it was missing for me. It was good I just wish it was a bit better for me.
