H is for Half an Hour Too Long A very well acted meditative drama with some excellent cinematography. It's stretched thinner than it can bear at 2 hours, which is unfortunate as it's otherwise a very likeable film that eschews the tidy redemptive ending because grief and people don't really work like that. All of the actors are very good but Foy is the standout and an absolute star. I say that as someone who has never really cared for her much in anything else too. She's brilliant here; there's no flashy melodrama to her performance as a daughter struggling with profound grief and sorrow. She somehow manages to make her character stoic, sad, funny, maddening and sympathetic in such a naturalistic way that it has made me a fan. A good, well made film with a great central performance and some amazing cinematography that captures mesmerising bird sequences and the wildness of the English countryside. It's overlong for the story and themes it wants to explore but I'm glad that I watched it.
I have just been to see this. Beautifully made and acted. Claire Foy is excellent. Lovely, poignant film.
