**... but it won't be the global catastrophe that kills you.** An indie film by RocketJump, famous for fast-paced YouTube VFX showcases, this production does not waste your time. Though ruminating on different ways of processing grief while assailed by endless absurdity (in addition to the throbbing tentacle on the horizon), the script is tight, the themes and subtext clear, and the editing clean. The characters are likeable and Jordan Rodriguez seems to have channelled every Freddy Wong (RocketJump creator) character. What they represent is readily apparent but they are not one-dimensional. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Technically flawless, ok performances, bit meh narrative. Honestly being Rocketjump I expected something more spectacular and less emotive pseudo-deepish Apple TV sci-fi.
I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to see a free screening of this film. I really enjoyed it. A major theme of this movie is grief, and I think it was very well done. I am a little biased because I've been a fan of the directors for a while, but it is definitely worth seeing.
