A lovely analogue for the processing of grief told via a quirky elevated-body-horror lens that is wholly unique, if a little unpolished. Captivating visuals are the star of the show, but its understated plot about loss and the lows it brings us to struck a chord with me, raising it above most indie horror fodder.
A solid reminder to never call your cat a dick! As a cat enthusiast I was so excited for this ever sinse it was announced, we need more cats in horror and I was expecting something along the lines of *The Cat* (1992) but with more emotions thrown into it. ***Booger*** does the classic cliché metaphorical mix between loss/trauma and body horror. This cat is all hair and no meat unfortunately, we barely scratch the surface with the themes and it certainly doesn't do anything fresh with the body horror material. It's mostly just the main character acting like a cat and doing gross stuff and i'll give it that, it definitely was gross. I laughed twice, the store lady was funny and the litter moment had me laugh out loud. Cool trippy visuals. Super predictable. Good ending.
