This one honestly surprised me quite a bit. At times it was as high as an 8.5, but some messy story elements finished it off at around a 7.4 for me. I had this on one of my watchlists, but I just naturally gravitate towards male protagonists, so I'd been putting it off. The artwork and animation were both slightly above average, and there were some well fleshed out characters. Unfortunately, some pacing issues about halfway through brought things down a bit. There were also some odd character choices...like one thing I found particularly grating was when Flum and Milkit
would just go back and forth saying Milkit, Master, Milkit, Master, Milkit, Master
...WTF? When the story started to get messy for me, was when
Ink was introduced. Maybe I was tired, but her spewing eyeballs from her face and not remembering, but then also somehow controlling them,
definitely could have been handled better. A solid MC though, and a great story idea initially made this one stand out from the rest.
At first I thought this was just a slow burn but as the show progressed I realized it has no real narrative focus. Continuously shifting the from one disconnected villain to the next with unclear or disparate motivations. All culminating in a season finale that is little more than a massive exposition dump in an unsuccessful attempt to tie everything together. There are some pretty good action scenes and the relationship between Flum and Milkit showed some promise. But this really wasn’t worth the time. Would Not Recommend
I had read the manga and really enjoyed it. I'm happy to see it's being adapted.
