تدرب الممثل البريطانى مارتن فريمان فى المدرسة المركزية للخطابة و الدراما ، ثم التحق بالمدرسة الثانوية الكاثوليكية . يعتبر فريمان قد نشأ فى أسرة فنية حيث ان شقيقه الاكبر كان فرد من فريق البوب فرايزر ، وشقيقه جيمى موسيقار و مصمم موقع ، ابن عمه بين نوريس الفنان الكوميدى ، انفصلا والديه وانتقل للعيش مع والده ، وعندما توفى والده انتقل للعيش مع والدته و شقيقه جيمى . مارتن كان من ضمن المنتخب الوطنى البريطانى للاسكواش وذلك وكان عمره حينها من 9 الى 14 سنة.صديقته هى الممثلة أماندا أبينجتون .
