This movie is absolutely unhinged and untethered from reality. I mean… smoke a joint and give into it on a day where you have nothing else to watch and want to be entertained. It’s a ridiculous ride.

I'm 90% sure the entire cast was doing a friend a favour. There are revolutionary and unique films like "The Substance", and then there are clichéd and bland flicks like "Shell". The narratives on society and mental/physical well-being stick out like a sore thumb. The 'futuristic' gimmicks feel extremely surface-level, and the generic tropes are just uninspiring. Also, I'm not sure if it was just poor acting or if the dialogue was actually cursed. A messy story with a boring pace. The best part was probably Elizabeth Moss ironically getting coerced by a rapacious cult….

This movie appealed to my interest in the pursuit of beauty….but wow! What a mess! But I loved it all the same!

This was so camp, I loved it. Elisabeth Moss is such a diva.
