This is now my favorite vampire movie. It's slow, but it's incredible. It's such an interesting and creative take on the vampire genre. I love horror movies that are more than jump scares and tropes, and this is that for sure.

I feel like I should enjoy depressing vampirism mumblecore but for whatever reason this just didn't click with me.

Just a bleak and depressing take on vampirism

A different kind of vampire movie. A brother and sister do what they can to care for their ‘vampire’ brother. A sad but thought provoking tale. Recommended.

Harrowing, bleak, depressing and suffocating, MHCBUYTIT is an interesting spin on the formulaic vampire genre. Instead of the usual played out tropes of fangs, garlic necklaces and wooden stakes, MHCBUYTIT tackles the affliction as a serious terminal illness effecting the youngest of three siblings, shifting the main focus to the strain it places on this struggling family unit and the fractures it opens in their bonds. While not enjoyable viewing, My Heart will definitely stick with you if you let it in, but don't be surprised when it sucks you dry of joy and happiness. Fans of drama heavy movies with a horror backdrop (like Hereditary and Saint Maud) will be well catered for here, but traditional horror fans may struggle with the moody, slowburn presentation on display. Good stuff, just lacking that final layer of metaphor to push it up to the higher scores for me.
