So I was able to get around the fact that a single actress was able to play two different characters in the same scene even though it was clearly the same actress (they actually did a really good job with that). There was actually a decent storyline going on about empathy and redemption. But then... the ending. Oh what a terrible ending. After all that, the message of the movie is that there might be more out there than humans know and understand? Seriously?
