I have mixed feelings about the film. While it delivers on the gore and violence, well that's all it had really. The kills are super gnarly and pretty inventive, also it's handsomely shot, but the fractured narrative constantly kill momentum for me. I don't think the fractured approach actually adds anything to the story. It ends up feeling disjointed with a ridiculous number of flashbacks to serve as a backstory, but they don't work quite well and give you crude excuses for her behavior. I simply have no affinity for the killer or victims. Also, it tries to be oversentimental but the motivation is very silly and unlikely.
Fantastic!! It's a unique type of slasher film. Soo gruesome, grim and bleak in its commentary on the high cost of living, and the struggle that causes. There's even a dark streak of humor throughout.
Socio-economic slasher with some of the most most grim-per-production-value scenes I've seen to date.
Dream Home is like a tour guide in an amusement park: just when you start to have fun, someone interrupts your buzz with a history lesson. The violence in this Hong Kong slasher is super well done and would've made this movie a great genre film, if only they hadn't drawn out the exposition in a series of over long info dumps they kept dumping on us whenever the film was getting good. What a missed opportunity...
