What do you get when you combine "Cast Away" + "Predator"? You get "SweetHeart"! (Don't be fooled by the title). Being a big fan of old-school monster flicks, this movie was really great! Loved all those hidden social messages within the movie! Ignore those IMDB reviews and watch this movie as its great! 7/10

Slight and forgettable, but still a reasonably well made monster flick.

fun survival action/horror joint for the first half but it falls off as other characters show up and the movie spends increasingly more time in the dark. such a beautiful setting with solid filmmaking at times only to be left with a borderline unreadable climax. it's too bad. Kiersey Clemons absolutely nailed it though! will seek out more from her and J.D. Dillard (The Outsider might slot in nice as one of my next tv shows when i finish my ongoing ones) eventually.

Sweetheart opens with a classic survival setup. Jenn, played by Kiersey Clemons, washes up alone on a remote beach after a wreck. She drags her friends’ bodies to shore, builds shelter, hunts for food and settles into a routine. Then the unease creeps in. A shark carcass torn apart by something unseen. Bodies vanishing overnight. The film pivots from castaway drama to a taut game of cat and mouse, with Jenn as the determined final girl. By day she scours the island for tools, crafts weapons and fortifies her camp. When darkness falls, a hulking predator prowls the shoreline, turning the island into a hunting ground. The film’s restraint pays off. For most of its brisk 82 minutes it hides the monster in shadow, building tension through sound and movement. When you finally see it, the design impresses, even if a few daylight shots show the seams. Sweetheart delivers a lean, inventive monster movie with a strong heroine and enough surprises to stick with you long after the credits. If you liked: Predator, The Descent, Jaws, Underwater.
