"I'm being called a liar by a goddamn fish?" Unwittingly, he trained a dolphin to kill the president of the United States. That must be one of the greatest tag lines of a movie ever? Right? Right? Anyway, I still can't believe what I have just seen. I enjoyed seeing Fa and Bea swimming and looking happy. I enjoyed seeing George C. Scott trying to be as serious as can be. The bad guys are just suits. The premise is fantastic and the way David (Jon Korkes) says Oh Shit a second before our big explosion is just amazing. Jon Korkes played Corrections Officer Tom Robinson in Oz. I knew I recognized him from somewhere! The Day of the Dolphin is directed by Mike Nichols, the guy that brought us The Graduate. I just can't believe that he directed a movie with a premise like this. But to be honest, The Day of the Dolphin is kind of boring. There isn't much happening at all but they are trying the best that they can do with the script. If you read the title you might think that we get dolphins like the ones in Treehouse of Horror XI from the Simpsons and that we have King Snorky, but we don't. In the end I'm happy I've watched this one because I was so damn curious and just had to see this with my own eyes. I still believe it is worth a watch just to see what that tag line is all about.
