What would happen if people of color had a chance to step through a portal and undo some past injustice? Well, this movie certainly doesn't care to ask.
Well intentioned film but it didn't grab my emotions. The message was interesting, and one I relate to... but there was something missing, meaning it wasn't as magical as it wanted to be. Shame, but kudos for trying.
You just have to get through the first two acts and it's actually a kind of good movie. Prime example of why it is important to start off strong and finish strong when making something. The first act was okay, but the second began to drag. As you watch this movie move at the speed of molasses in the height of winter, you begin to wonder if it's worth it. The end was okay, Kyle Gallner's acting really shone though. For some reason there was one scene where Nick Offerman is delivering his lines as if he's being held hostage and can only eat once he's said his lines. It has the pretentious charm of a british sci-fi film. Overall 6.5 rounded up to 7.
