"What are we gonna do Mark?" "We're just gonna go home and pretend like nothing happened..." The humor here is about all that wins over the 1st film. The homage of various movies as they're thrown into the new worlds is a great section but it really takes a while for this film to get going where it wants to be. Hang on for the ride and the last 30mins are a treat.
For me, Waxwork II: Lost in Time isn't quite on the level of the first film - that original is a near-perfect '80s horror anthology gem - but I still had a blast watching it. Picking up right after the events of part one, it follows Sarah (Marina Sirtis) and her new boyfriend Mark (Zach Galligan) as they get sucked into a cursed scenario box that flings them through different horror dimensions and time periods. The anthology format delivers a ton of fun, wildly varied segments: a hilarious Frankenstein riff, a solid zombie outbreak, a creepy Nosferatu homage, and even a stop-motion fantasy bit. It's campy, self-aware, and packed with practical effects and B-movie charm that feel right at home in that early '90s horror vibe. The cast has a good time - Galligan is likable, and the guest stars (including Bruce Campbell in a quick, perfect cameo) add extra spice. It's not as tight or scary as the first, but it's goofy, inventive, and endlessly entertaining if you're in the mood for over-the-top horror-comedy. I enjoyed every ridiculous minute.
The original had some charm and humour. This one missed both of those. I'd advise that you just skip it
