The following quote appears at the very end of the credits, and (in case you didn't, already) I think you all should see it: >"We're all one thing, Lieutenant. That's what I've come to realize. Like cells in a body. 'Cept we can't see the body. The way fish can't see the ocean. And so we envy each other. Hurt each other. Hate each other. How silly is that? A heart cell hating a lung cell." - Cassie from THE THREE
First two thirds of this film were fantastic, but let down by the final third unfortunately.
It tethers dangerously close to being a parody of itself and stroking the writer's self indulgence.
Adaptation of Susan Orlean’s “The Orchid Thief” by Charlie Kaufman, in which Charlie Kaufman (Nicolas Cage) struggles to adapt Susan Orlean’s “The Orchid Thief” while his brother and improvised screenwriter Donald (also Nicolas Cage) is having a much easier time. Surely self-indulgent but, unlike Kaufman’s later works, remarkably self-aware and enjoyable throughout. Interesting how Charlie’s movie (brainy and conceptual) morphs into Donald’s movie (a clichéd thriller) as his character becomes more prominent, even though I preferred the former.
