Lone Star plays like a meandering walk down memory lane by a sheriff with unresolved issues, in a town desperately in need of worthier legends to idolize. Themes of racism are heavy handed, and the story takes the scenic route when a direct, high speed road is the better option. The conclusion is shocking and thought-provoking, but a shock ending does not a good movie make.

Edit (2024/12/30): My rating for this film has increased. While I didn't write down my thoughts on it, since I last watched this film, it's been on my mind. I keep returning to it. I think I'll be rewatching this movie again in the coming year. I've a feeling it may continue to grow on me.
