I got to say I was really impressed with that movie and was filled with admiration towards Stephen Hawking and it has nothing to do with him being a brilliant physicist. But for being a strong willed human being. A Man who by all means was dealt a bad hand but he never took it as an excuse to not do what he believed in. I was amazed by Redmayne's performance and how his eyes never stopped shinning even when he lost control over all his motor skills he looked more alive than most of us. Never for once stopped living life to the fullest. Another thing that really got to me was the relationship between him and his wife. The intimacy, the communication even when it was about being with someone else, they never stopped talking to one another. An example that we should all follow in our relationships. Watching that movie made my realise who petty my problems are and how no matter how bad they are, the most important thing about them is that they are temporary.. Some people are not so lucky! It received four Golden Globe Award nominations, winning the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama for Redmayne and Best Original Score. It received three 21st Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations, winning one for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for Redmayne. It received 10 nominations in British Academy Film Awards or BAFTA and went on to win three; Outstanding British Film, Best Leading Actor (for Redmayne) and Best Adapted Screenplay (for Anthony McCarten). The film also received five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, with Redmayne winning Best Actor for his performance.

Amazing film. Truth to be said, the first time I watched it, I "hated it". I wanted more science and less romantic themes, but now I see it fits the perfect balance between both for the public. It is inspiring, both for studying science and for live. The ending, with the experience of being a father, is just breath taking.

I can't see through all the tears. Completely blown away by Eddie Redmayne's performance.

While The Theory of Everything is billed as a biopic of one of the greatest minds of our time, it leans far more into the emotional and domestic than the intellectual or philosophical. This isn’t a film about the cosmos or Hawking’s revolutionary work, it’s a romantic drama dressed in the robes of a genius. And for what it is, it’s quite beautiful. Eddie Redmayne’s performance is phenomenal, evolving with nuance and depth across the runtime, and he absolutely earns the accolades for it. Felicity Jones also gives a strong supporting performance as Jane, holding much of the film’s emotional weight. That said, the film doesn’t engage much with Hawking’s actual work. There’s a real sense of wasted potential, his theories, contributions to cosmology, and broader implications are brushed aside in favor of domestic tension and melodrama. It drags at points, and despite being well-scored and beautifully shot, the film’s direction feels a bit too safe, too Oscar-baity. It’s emotionally moving and well-acted, but not particularly thought-provoking. More a love story with a tragic arc than a deep dive into a brilliant life.

You don't have to be into Physics or Science in generall to understand this movie. Although it's about Stephen Hawking, it has very little science in it and even with all that science in it, this movie is not about science. It's about the relationship between Stephen Hawking and Jane Wilde, who met in the 60s, fell in love, married, got some kids and had their couple issues during their difficult marriage. Based on the biographical book by Jane Hawking/Wilde. The movie is a biography, a romance and a drama/tragedy. It's not a feel good movie, because you get to see, how Stephen Hawking loses more and more control of his body, struggling with his desease, and his wife Jane loses more and more herself as woman, wife and love of Stephen Hawking. If you're not into that kind of movie, there is one reason why this movie is a must-see: Eddie Redmayne. Eddie Redmayne is spectacular, brilliant and one of the best actors of his generation. His acting is beyond perfection (in cooperation with the excellent make-up, costumes, camera, editing and direction, that all together gave life to Redmaynes physical performance of Stephen Hawking). In contrast, what Redmayne had to do like overacting the physical degradation of Stephen Hawking, Felicity Jones as Jane Hawking is great, her acting is very sublte, more with her eyes and mimic. She plays a very loving woman, left alone with herself, the kids and with Stephen Hawking. Excellent role for Felicity Jones. There are 2-3 scenes, that gave me goosebumps, one being where Jane broke up with Stephen. I felt the sadness, the pain in both actors, but Eddie nailed it and hit me with his performance right in my heart and guts. Brilliant. Eddie Redmayne deserved the Oscar as main actor for his performance. Recommended.
