I haven't read the original novel in nearly two decades, but this celluloid adaptation of Lewis Carroll's second _Alice_ novel was a blast. There were so many twists and turns and so much action that I almost felt as if I was playing a video game instead. The plot kept me involved, and, all in all, I enjoyed this one; it was a fun diversion from a depressing situation I was facing at the time while I was watching it. While this sequel may have been a bit unnecessary, that didn't keep it from being good, clean fun, the kind we need more of these days.
It wasn't the first one but it's a good movie with absolutely beautiful animations, almost flawless. There was a surprisingly wise lesson at the end which made things more wonderful than they already were. It was a good storyline and it was easy to follow. The actors were marvelous. Johnny Depp can't stop surprising me, he is so talented. To be honest with you, the main reason I like this movie is the characters and the world they live in. It is all so magical, I love it. I liked the concept of the big clock and I actually really liked "Time". I felt like the trailers made him look like a bad guy, but really he was just trying to save everyone, not even kidding. Also, he had one hella good looking man-bun. Just pointing that out. Alice Through the Looking Glass carries all the magic and beauty as well as a nice/quite easy going storyline. If you enjoyed the first one, you for sure are going to enjoy this one.
The long awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s bold re-imagining of Lewis Carroll’s classic, Alice Through the Looking Glass is a convoluted mess...albeit a beautiful looking one. Having virtually nothing to do with the book, Alice returns to Wonderland and must travel back in time in order to save the Mad Hatter’s family, but Time follows suit and attempts to stop her. The plot is extremely contrived and makes absolutely no sense. And the characters feel quite different from the last film, and are far less compelling. Still credit has to be given to Danny Elfman for his incredible score and the art and effects departments for their extraordinarily creative designs. Yet while Alice Through the Looking Glass is full of exciting action and is a visual marvel, the story is garbage.
i'm really enjoyed more than the first one. But the movie take the basic of time travel adventure and put the same characters with no evolution at all.
A great sequel to the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland film. Very unique (as all Tim Burton movies are.) And adds a modern twist to the traditional tale. You cannot beat the casting in this film: Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, some of my absolute favourites. All so perfect for their roles. I loved how it have the backstory too of how the Queen got her large head, a question i've wanted answered since I saw the first movie.
