I think the only reason this movie gets so much criticism is that Britney Spears was the lead and people just love to hate her. In my opinion, this is a very well crafted Teen movie about girl friends finding themselves after graduation. Sure, some moments have cheesy acting but overall it is just the right balance of friendship, serious issues and fun! Not to mention Britney had a lot of control in the formation of the plot and I think she did an amazing job communicating her intention with this film. This is Britney at her peak and it shows, everyone else does a really good job as well!
Honestly, I was a huuuuge Britney fan back then and I remember I did watch this movie sometimes. I think is a good exercise to watch something from the past as an adult, with a new perspective. **Crossroad** is a teen road-trip movie, is not about friendship. The three main characters buried that box, as pre-teens, promising they would open it together in their prom night. Fast forward, 8 years has passed and the prom night came and they are not friends anymore and Zoe Saldana character seems to be mean to the others, especially with Britney Spears' Lucy. Eight years during the teenage years is a lot and a lot can change! A lot happens, so they don't even know each other anymore, so it's like the guy is not the only unknown person there. I know that scene in the hotel when they kinda try to rekindle their friendship tries to cover that huge gap but is very superficial. To be honest, everything in the movie is very superficial if you take a deeper look there's not a character growth and they live for the motto "the important is the journey not the destination", but literally. Well, but don't get me wrong. The movie is not bad. Is just a silly teenage movie that you can watch to have a good time. You not going to fall in love for it nor hate it with all of your inner strength, because the movie's is very tight, although things seems to be happen out of the blue just to please the script. Britney wasn't an actress - and she still isn't - and she was able to deliver a fair performance, and the other actors also did a good job. I know for sure Zoe Saldana did a better job here than in "Emilia Perez" with less screen time, so... Yeah! Cool...
To be honest I would just watch this because Britney Spears was in this movie, and I used to be a fan of her music. She also makes the movie a bit more bearable to watch, otherwise I didn't find this movie that special.
>"None of us has any idea where life's gonna take us, 'cause what we have is now." To anyone who loves this movie: more power to ya. I am not here to hate, I just really did not have fun watching it. I enjoyed seeing Britney act, but the writing was pretty bad. Then I saw that it was a Shonda Rhimes movie so that makes sense.
britney spears não é artista e britfan não é gente
