It would be pretty simple to just called "Bog" a terrible movie. Between the grandpa & grandma make out scene, the hilariously bad science talk and the terrible monster effects, it's probably one of the worst movies that I've ever seen. The editing is horrible, and maybe it's been chopped up over the years since its initial release, but if not, it truly shows the ineptitude of the creators. The acting is awful, especially the overacting of Gloria DeHaven and Aldo Ray. Ray co-stars as the county Sheriff, who shakes off the many deaths of the officers on his staff with ease. There is one effective scene, and it features an old woman who lives in a creepy shack deep in the boggy swamp. The camera zooms in on her face while she tells the story of the bog monster and it's such a grainy and discolored shot that it feels otherworldly. For my money, Marshall Thompson adds a half star to my rating because he's a chill and incredibly smart old doctor. Thompson is a B-movie star that I always get a kick out of. Even with those minimal assets, "Bog" still stinks like something dead in a swamp.

Shot in Wisconsin. Should have let it die. A "so bad it's good movie" should be interesting or fun. This is neither. The BOG is a SLOG.
