This is such a bad movie. Is this really the best Turkey has to offer? My goodness… The birth at the start is so bizarre and over the top. Are we really going to believe that the streets are completely empty and no one reacts to two screaming people in pajamas till morning? After that, straight into the torture. It’s an absurd start… It doesn’t get any better after that. This “movie” is all over the place, there is no context whatsoever, it’s way too dramatic and extremely overacted. And it looks absolutely terrible for 2005. I’ve seen more impressive shots from home videos recorded with a camcorder. It’s laughable.

Rewatching this i notice how the development of a lot events and dialogue feels forced, with some scenes becoming a bit robotic even. But despite that, this movie makes you feel a wide range of emotions through great acting and use of local dialect. Sure it's cry bait and forced but the film itself runs smoothly and naturally thanks to how good the movie makes use of the actors. This movie is heavy even to those with the most hard-hearted. Not everyone will like it but i definitely recommend it to anyone who has grown up in Turkey or in a similar environment.

We see ourselves in the mirror while watching his movies in theaters. As all Çağan Irmak movies Babam & Oğlum has managed impressive as all this its is deeply. When the period is based on the script of the film we see the stressful times in Turkey. Family ties. Family relations in the Aegean region. At the end of the movie we see death of the father and we sad. But also we saw grandchild finally getting his grandfather. Also we are happy! That is what melodrama.
