Another great performance by Forest.

During the past month I've made a point to see all the movies nominated for the Academy Awards, Best Picture. Tonight, I am absolutely heartbroken that this wonderful movie received not a single nomination in any category. I tis just tragic! This fantastic movie should have at least(!) received nominations for Best Picture, Best Makeup and Best Actor (Forest Whittaker).

A little obvious an in your face. An opportunity missed. Could have been a fantastic film with a slightly more subtle director.

This is a great movie, so why not a 10? Way, way too many gross historical inaccuracies, on purpose to supposedly make the storyline better. These aren't parts where they're ad-libbing areas they could've know the actual dialogue, but where they have made up an extra son and inaccurately depict Reagan's meeting with the Senators. There was one son. He did not die in Vietnam. He was not a Black Panther. He did not run for Congress. He may have been a Freedom Fighter but there's no public claims he was.. The mother/wife was not an alcoholic or ever have an affair. The story could've been great just on the actual facts. I was tempted to give it a lower score since it has so many discrepancies from the truth as to not really be based on a true story but inspired by one. However, the acting was so phenomenal, every character, that it's still a wonderful film. -2 for falsifying where it wasn't necessary. Could've been a 10 if it has remained factually accurate.

This movie made me cry.
