This is just a bunch of convoluted crap! Hard to watch or follow. Hell no its a MUST NOT WATCH!
Not very good to be honest. I suppose it's different but I had trouble getting into it or caring about it at all. The cinematography was good and they should have used that style on Wuthering Heights (2025) because Wuthering Heights (the book) is the first thing that came to mind in the first few minutes.
It’s clear that director Michael Sarnoski set out to deliver a thoughtful retelling of a classic myth. After a brutal and promising opening half hour, however, the film slams on the brakes and settles into a meditative stupor from which it never recovers. The movie desperately needs subtitles, as much of the dialogue is nearly inaudible and several accents are difficult to understand. While the cinematography is undeniably beautiful, its dark, tranquil imagery only amplifies the film’s lethargic pace. By the end, it feels less like you’ve experienced a gripping tale and more like you’ve sat through a two hour therapy session. What’s most frustrating is how little the film leaves you with. I found myself feeling almost nothing throughout, to the point that it’s difficult to identify much worth discussing afterward. Fundamentally, the pacing is so slow that it becomes hard to invest in the characters, especially when Hugh Jackman’s character undergoes so little meaningful change over the course of the story. The dominant emotion the film evokes is boredom. That’s the last thing an outlaw’s tale should inspire.
Boring af, why did Hugh Jackman accepted this ?
The initial conceit you’re presented with is a grizzled aging Robin Hood worn down from a lifetime of violence and filled with regret being hunted by the ancestors of his victims. I was intrigued and excited to see how that narrative would resolve. Unfortunately the film quickly devolves into a slow paced middling redemption story that while being fine is far less compelling. Filled with convenient character connections that didn’t feel natural. I left the theater feeling pretty lukewarm about the film overall, longing for what might have been if the story had built on the opening sequence.
