The underwater shots were nice. The acting was mediocre, the effects were mediocre and the tension was okay. Is it worth watching? I think if you can't find a movie, go watch it. Also if you like shark movies, maybe give it a chance but as I said, I didn't like it. There are illogical content in some places. It may choke those who don't want it. Now that I think about it, I've seen movies that are more ridiculous than this. If you give it a chance, go watch it.
Story had volume for a minute with crazy old Levi finally finding the Charlotte after so many years of searching but then a bunch of cocky shallow nobodies show up and they're the new main characters to root for. Because I didn't care about them, I didn't feel much tension watching this. There's a Draco Malefoy kinda character here that was easy to root against but at some point they wanted the viewer to root for him which is ridiculous. The underwater shots look great and whatever set they used was believable. I've seen shark effects a lot worse than this, they're ok here but I wouldn't call them good by any stretch. I appreciated the more realistic attacks where a shark took a bite instead of swallowing a whole human being whole like they usually do in these movies, blood loss is much more probable. They copied a bunch of movies for those final few minutes.
It’s that time of year again… shark week! That means I’ll be watching plenty of awful shark movies all week long. Now I may be a bit more lenient on my ratings when it comes to shark movies. Some are really bad and some are watchable. It’s rare that we get really good shark movies. I prefer when they take themselves seriously. I’m not a big fan of the ‘Sharknado’ types. Some people think they shouldn’t be so serious but I appreciate when they play it straight. Enough of my rambling about shark movies and let me get into my review. This was actually not that bad. It’s really a tale of two halves. The entire first half was kind of boring, they’re introducing the characters and developing the story. But I’m really here for the sharks and suspense. Great characters are the cherry on top in movies like these. I genuinely found myself caring for some of the characters. I thought some of the performances were pretty decent. It’s pretty well made and has some suspenseful moments. The CGI is kind of passable. It had some pretty fun shark attacks, just not that much blood. Overall I actually really enjoyed this. I watch so many awful shark movies that when I see a decent one I’m more generous than other people. I just want to be entertained, have some fun and see some cool shark kills. This movie succeeded in doing that. * Shark Week: Day 1 * Shark Week: Watch #1
Nice cinematography, not bad acting, good underwater sequences, crap story with no point. I’ve seen worse but don’t waste your time.
