Pamela Anderson is Barb Wire in this trashy, exploitation thriller. Based on a Dark Horse comic, Barb Wire is a rogue bounty hunter and club owner who walks a thin line between the competing factions of America’s second Civil War, but is pushed too far when the Congressionals crack down on the last free city. The story couldn’t be more trite, but Anderson actually does a fair job portraying Wire. However, she doesn’t have much of a supporting cast backing her up, and the writing doesn’t help any. Barb Wire is an entertaining B-movie, but the poor filmmaking makes a mess out of the material.

I have no idea why I actually used to like this one... If I'm honest I think it would have to do with those utterly fake udders that's getting showed in your face for an hour and a half. Gotta love a teenagers sense of mind...

Sexploitation movie to launch Pamela Anderson’s movie career. It’s grindhouse set in a dystopian future based on a comic. Enjoy it for what it is.

Quite the opening scene, eh? 'Barb Wire' surprisingly kinda works. I enjoyed the dumb, simple story enough, the attempted aesthetic does come through well. I know nothing of the comic character, though Pamela Anderson puts in a serviceable performance. The supporting cast, incl. Xander Berkeley and Udo Kier, are satisfactory. I would say the Axel and Cora D parts are less positive, the characters of Temuera Morrison and Victoria Rowell do feel sidelined despite their key significance to the overall plot. I almost kept forgetting that they were actually in the movie to be honest. I'm not saying this 1996 release is anything impressive, but it gets a pass from me. What can I say?

I honestly don‘t get the ultra bad review this film gets. Yes, it has it‘s trashy moments but it‘s also quite iconic at this point and overall a lot of fun to watch. Also Pamela’s acting isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be. After all you better remember to not call her Babe!
