"The Room Next Door" is the first feature film in English by director Pedro Almodóvar. And I would say that you can tell. Because the dialog written by Almodóvar feels very unnatural, which kept pulling me out of the movie. The film is also too melodramatic for my taste. The leading actresses Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton do a good job overall, and Almodóvar is of course also skilled enough as a director to make the movie visually interesting. The theme of dealing with self-determined death is also interesting. But it's a dialog-heavy film, and unfortunately, there lies its biggest weakness. But in the end, it was the last 15 minutes that ultimately led me to the rather weak rating. Almodóvar then makes two decisions that really annoyed me and were completely unnecessary. As a result, the ending lost any impact for me, which makes “The Room Next Door” a frustrating movie overall.

I greatly enjoyed it. It’s poignant and beautiful and perfectly paced albeit slow; it’s not tiring. The ending is perfect as well. I also appreciate the sprinkles of humor throughout and I came out of the cinema grateful for being young and alive.

It seems like it was a low budget badly written soap opera. The dialogs were very wooden and unnatural.

Tilda Swinton and Juliane Moore give good performances but overall kinda meh slow drag. The cutaway scenes feels like it’s from a B-grade movie. The dilaogue was kinda wack at times as well. Movies skippable

It's middling Almodòvar.The film was descent with great actors and performances but not emotionally involving.
