So, this is a sequel to the 1998 film - simply titled _Vampires_. Now, while one wouldn't need to see the first movie to enjoy this, it definitely will help; there are no direct ties to the first movie, however the vampire mythology will make more sense. I liked this film more than the original, but it still had flaws. The biggest improvement is the cast; with the exception of Natasha Wagner, everyone handles their role very well. Award for most improved part goes to Arly Jover as our lead female vampire, Una; she is a vast upgrade from Thomas Ian Griffith. Now, while _Los Muertos_ can stand on its own two feet, it is basically a copy-paste of the first movie. Almost more of a remake rather than a sequel. What that means is if you dug the first movie, you should also like this. What I think this one does better is making our vampire hunters more genial. What's missing is Sheryl Lee or anyone who could hold a candle to how far she elevated that first movie. So, yeah, pretty good. Better than part one. Light on the vampires, heavy on the action. A few cheesy moments. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes vampire movies, but from the point of view of the hunters.

If you can’t get James Woods, get Jon Bon Jovi. Yes, it’s that kind of sequel. _Vampires: Los Muertos_ is a weak and uninspired horror film that’s just trying to cash in on a franchise. Once again a vampire is seeking the Black Cross of Beziers in order to walk in daylight, and a rogue vampire hunter must put together a team to try and stop her. The acting is rather poor and the effects aren’t much better. But, it delivers on the gore and the action. Formulaic and clichéd, _Vampires: Los Muertos_ lacks the vision and style of the John Carpenter original.
