After "Fireball" and "Stingray" this is my third Gerry Anderson show and I think "Thunderbirds" is the most mature of them all. The level of detail in the sets, modells, even in the costumes of the puppetts is amazing. And I like how it is shot like you´d do with a live action show. All that adds up to a higly entertaining show that unfortunately only produced 32 episodes and two feature-length movies.
Watched this in the 1960s, on a black-and-white TV, at a friend's house, as my family didn't have one at that time. Then watched it again, with my children, when it was reprised on the BBC in the early 1990s, which was the first time I realised that it had been made in colour. I enjoyed it greatly on both occasions; my kids didn't have to be forced to watch it every week! I think that this was Gerry Anderson's (& his crew / cast) peak. Subsequent shows never achieved this one's consistent level of story-telling, scripts, voice characterisation and puppetry. There's the odd clunk, of course. The films are OK, but just that; both feel like over-extended episodes. Recommended for (cliche alert) children of all ages.
