Dans le petit village anglais typique de Pagford, dont les centres névralgiques sont la place du marché et l'ancienne abbaye, derrière ses jolies maisons à l'apparence accueillante, c'est pourtant la guerre qui fait rage : celle qui déchire les riches et les pauvres, les parents et leurs enfants, les instituteurs et leurs élèves...

Based on the novel by JK Rowling, the mini series is an average british drama. Though they decided to whitewash bits and pieces, and completely erase parts of the story that I most enjoyed in the book it's still worth checking out.
The show tried very hard to have a villain and they ended up taking a very strong story that talks about major topics of modern society (racism, clasism, drugs and the responsability of society as a whole, social services, poverty, family, coming of age and being a kid/teen in a mostly broken world) and made it about a pretty annoying old lady who wants to live in a world she can control. And that's about it. The characters were week and pretty plain, and they were not strong enough to show a pretty shocking ending that would have left the viewer asking some very difficult and hard questions. Not so worth it.
