Oh, how I hope they turn this into an anthology. It took me a second to get used to the casting but Ms. Cupp and the gang are Netflix icon characters. So many great performances loaded together with non-stop dialogue, comedy, mystery, and information. The pace is an editor's nightmare, it's overwhelmingly fast but thankfully repetitive. The plot points and personalities are purposefully exaggerated/dramatic, but realistic if you're comparing it to the current White House. Production-wise, it's impressive, and story-wise, it's both predictable and unthinkable. The writing dips between good and bad but the suspense stays violently kicking. Rip Andre Braugher, who was supposed to play 'A.B.'
_The Residence_ is a fantastic show. It’s packed with clever twists, great characters, and a mystery that keeps you hooked from start to finish. One of the best things about this show is how it plays with time. The constant back-and-forth between timelines of interviews and events keeps the pace exciting by placing the spectator in Cordelia's head and adds layers to the mystery without ever feeling confusing. Every reveal is perfectly timed, making the show even more addictive. The characters are well-written and feel real, not just thrown in to check a box. The cast does an amazing job bringing them to life, making every moment feel authentic. What really stands out is how _The Residence_ naturally includes diversity without making it feel ever forced or like it’s pushing an agenda. It proves yet again that when casting is based on talent rather than quotas, the story flows seamlessly, and everyone benefits; especially the audience. This is exactly what should be served more of instead of ruining classic stories with unnecessary and controversial changes. If you love a smart, well-paced mystery, The Residence delivers. It’s fresh, engaging, and exactly the kind of storytelling we need more of. Netflix, this is how you do it right. I can only hope for a sweeping success of this limited series which will hopefully lead to the pleasure of following more of Cordelia Cupp's adventures.
Incredibly annoying and not funny dialogue with constant yapping - like a bad play. All they do is blab non stop with a lot of it whining. Ken Marino is particularly bad. Lasted half way through the first episode.
Serious lack of diversity and inclusion.
A good series start with season 1. I did find the season to be over long and could have been 5 or 6 episodes instead. I enjoyed the show, very quirky and some funny back and forth one liners during the interviews. Overall well worth a watch for a mystery with a difference. :thumbsup_tone1:
