Ezra is irresistibly charming, full of so much passion and care, and finds strength where similar films fall flat.Super cast, super acting.
See this. De Niro is not the star, nor is Goldberg. But Bernal and Fitzgerald does a great job.
I really wanted to love this movie as I adore several of the actors that are in it. But.... everything about the movie felt second-rate. There wasn't anything terrible about it, but there wasn't much good either. Sure, there are some heartwarming moments, but the movie is given that for free by the subject matter. It does little beyond that. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
Don't understand why this has the low ratings. I found it to be a heartwarming story of redemption, growth, and healing of the three main male leads (Bobby C., Robert D., and the young actor playing the titular Ezra - William Fitzgerald). Great performance by Bobby Cannavale, decent performance turned in by DeNiro - not his best nor his worst. Good supporting performances by Rose Byrne, Vera Farmiga, Whoopi Goldberg, and Rainn Wilson.
