Beautifully filmed, and quite emotionally devastating. [spoiler]A few stars lost for bury your gays trope[/spoiler]

Although the story itself isn’t anything new, this particular film touches me in a way that none of its kind has in a long time. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but it perfectly conveys that emotional depth, that profound sadness over missed opportunities, and the painful reflection on the past. I found myself wondering how things might have turned out if one of them had had a little more confidence and taken a chance. Plus, Julien de Saint Jean and Jeremy Gillet are such wonderful actors and so talented that I’d love to see more of them. In fact, the entire cast is fantastic, and the film is executed with quiet, understated brilliance.

What can I say? Not as good as the book it is based on, but still very well done. Obviously some changes in order to allow for better visual storytelling. Very sad—but also lovely—story and probably more real for some than others. I only with the soundtrack was not so stereotypical for this kind of romance genre at times.
