Good action flick.. Kurt Rusell probably in the best shape of his life! Story has some predictability, if you can look passed that...great entertainment.

Take a bit of Rambo, a bit of Starship Troopers, a bit of Cyborg and a hint of Terminator and you basically get Soldier. To my mind a grossly underrated Sci-Fi movie that has some depth in terms of subjects as well as good action, good visual effects, good decor and good caricatured characters that match the intent of the movie. Just do this movie justice and watch it with the right eyes: Good Sci-Fi action with some depth.

Holds up pretty good for a twenty year old sci-fi. By Paul WS Anderson's standards it's a masterpiece. But the music is just awful, it's like the Starwars score made by a tone-deaf person. Predictable story but nice enough entertainment for a rainy day. Oddly enough this supposedly takes place in the same universe as Blade Runner but don't get your hopes up, apart from the odd reference and place names there are absolutely no similarities.

It's a very good B-movie.

Apparently Paul Anderson made Event Horizon before this to give Kurt Russel time to bulk up for this role. The highlight for me was Jason Issac’s slightly hammy performance as arrogant and pompous Colonel Mekum.
