Very nice. It could use a bit of depth in developing the love story between David and Nina (the whole story basically happened in a month?), but the chemistry was great here, and the idea that seemingly bad things may be just triggers for a better chapter of your life is very encouraging.
The Oranges is one of those movies that I had known existed for years without ever actually knowing what it was about. After finally getting around to it, I found it to be a surprisingly quirky rom-com that leans heavily into discomfort as part of its appeal. The central relationship features such a significant age gap that it feels awkward from start to finish. But that's clearly intentional. The movie isn't trying to make the situation feel normal or conventionally romantic. Instead, it embraces the fallout, tension, and absurdity that comes from putting these characters in such an uncomfortable situation. What makes it work is that it commits to the premise rather than backing away from it. The cast handles the material well, and the movie finds a nice balance between comedy, drama, and social awkwardness. It's definitely not a traditional rom-com, but that's part of what makes it memorable. I'm glad I finally got around to watching it. Rating: 3/5 – 75% – Worth Watching
