This was absolutely horrible! Super boring... You barely see "The Joker" No action and sooooooooo much singing. I loved the first Joker movie and I rated it a 10.... But this... Ugh...
the people who hate on this movie because its a musical clearly dont get WHY its a musical
The more I think about this, the more I dislike it. It was pretty to look at, sure. Lots of stunning shots in here, and I'll never get tired of watching Joaquin do his unhinged Joker dances and movements. Excellent stuff. But aside from those things, the film is extremely dull. It's uneventful, the plot isn't interesting, and even the musical numbers aren't very good. Most of the time it felt like the film was too scared to fully lean into actually being a musical, and it often left this weird awkward feeling anytime singing started. Joaquin's vocals weren't exactly pleasant, and I understand that they probably shouldn't be too pleasant considering the character he's playing, but that doesn't mean that it should feel like such a chore to sit through. I was doubly disappointed due to many of the songs covered being songs I otherwise really like. I don't have as big of an issue with the ending as others seem to. My main gripe with the ending is just that it solidifies the point that the whole film was pretty much pointless. This is a definite example of a cash grab by a studio that was overjoyed when the first film overperformed and made them an insane amount of money. Totally unnecessary.
