Why does everyone hate on this movie? I think it's great. This, Elf, and A Christmas Story are must-watches every year.

My favourite Christmas movie! It's such a feel good movie, I love the colours....all the red and the green! Jim Carrey is hilarious and really takes on the role.

Nobody could of played the Grinch better than Jim Carrey. He brings so much energy. I never realized that it was Anthony Hopkins that was the narrator. He has a perfect narrator voice. The Grinch love story is a little weird.

I loathed this movie for so many years, I was never a fan of Doctor Seuss so I never understood the appeal, the designs, costumes and prosthetics were outrageous and monstrous. Now I'm an adult I can see this movie was not written for children, it is an adult tale (don't believe me, there is an orgy reference at 25:35). The Grinch doesn't hate Christmas, he hates people. I now realise this monstrosity is intentional, the Grinch isn't the monster the Who's are.

For me, I find it hard not to enjoy it. Is the acting over the top? Yes. Does said acting work from anyone other than Jim? Rarely. Yet, the film doesn't overstay its welcome. Visually, it's very whimsical and fantastic, and Carrey's performance is unforgettable. Ron Howard did precisely what this film was meant to do: be an entertaining entry into any Christmas Season watchlist.
