3 Thoughts After Re-Watching ‘The Karate Kid Part II’: 1. It’s definitely not a bad film, and I loved it as a kid, but there’s something missing after seeing it again today. Something that leaves it feeling a bit rushed in places and bogged down in others. 2. Despite its flaws, it’s great nostalgia. And it’s always a joy to see the friendship between Mr. Miyagi and Daniel grow even deeper. A pleasant continuation of their journey, with the entirely different _(and absolutely charming)_ backdrop of Japan. 3. Pat Morita is a treasure.

Ok but pretty borring 5/10

Concentrating on Miyagi as this film does seems a good choice since he was the best thing about the first one and again he is here too. The change of setting is also welcome. But, unfortunately, this is a typical 80s sequel - way too repetitive of plot elements and ideas from the first film. The scenes between Daniel and Miyagi are really the only parts of the film that hold interest.

I loved this one as a kid but now it feels looong. It drags in the second act.

A lot of important lessons, a good continuation to the first movie in the interesting setting of Okinawa. Enjoyable to watch. Cheesy but enjoyable. 😊 Mr. Miyagi is the best!
