"The Nest" was boring until last 30 minutes, when it turned into an old-fashioned practical effects extravaganza. I can't say that the effects were realistic by any stretch but what they were was imaginative and very, very weird. The rest of the movie is entirely forgettable with a mostly despicable lead character and an excruciatingly slow pace.

Hooptober Eight: Hooptober takes Manhattan! "Why are the roaches killing people and how do we stop them?" Let me tell you why because these are cockroaches straight from the 50s! A 50's creature feature made in the 80's with a bonkers final 20 minutes. Never in my life I expected to see that human-roach at the end. It rips off the arm of the scientist who deserves it and even chops off the top of her head! The Nest is an late 80's horror film with a small town vibe with an evil mayor, the sheriff, love interests, a crazy guy, a man named Homer who isn't even yellow and loads of nasty cockroaches. Man, I would freak out if I saw them in my house. Anyway the poster of the Nest might be the best poster in my edition of Hooptober this year and the final 20 minutes seriously saved this film for me!
