A VERY GOOD MOVIE TO WATCH
A creature feature with dark and creepy sewer tunnels and a giant alligator??? Sign me up any day of the week. This was a LOT of fun, even though it felt a little understated compared to other creature feature films of the same era. Of course, there were a few things to pick on, but who cares. For a low-budget creature feature, Alligator does what it was made to do... Entertain.
I surprisingly liked this movie. Its about a big alligator that eats people and the cop who tries to stop it, nothing more nothing less. While there are technical limitations of the alligator prop i was surprised what they pulled off. It was fun and bloody with a decent plot and characters.
Animal horror films that don't drift completely into the trash zone are always something I can get excited about. That's why I didn't have too bad a time with "Alligator." The film doesn't take itself too seriously, has a great lead actor in Robert Forster, and the monster effects are also impressive, at least in places. However, sometimes the whole thing got a bit too silly for me, and the plot didn't progress quickly enough, especially in the first act. But at least the finale delivers in terms of carnage.
Fantastic 80s fun. So cheesy, it's good.
