Watched a solid 80 minutes of this movie and I’m still not even sure what kind of plane this was.
You know those times when you don’t know what to watch, so you put on something you know is garbage, just to yell at it in your own bad rendition of MST3K? I know you do. Because you’re reading a comment about Money Plane. Overall, it’s bad. Really bad. But not in the, cheap, self-aware, over-the-top ridiculous way that you’d expect. It’s just… bad. There are a few good opportunities to yell at bad CGI, overly-serious acting, and bad green screen, but ultimately you’ll just find yourself forcing yourself waiting for it to end. TL;DR: even if you want to laugh at how bad it is, don’t bother.
"I am the baddest m**herf**ker on the planet!" - Kelsey Grammer in this movie, yelling at the camera in a Skype call, with a straight face. This movie is amazingly bad. The acting. The dialogue. The editing. The sound effects and ADR. The story. The amazingly over-the-top characters ("Yee-haw!!"). How hardly anything that happens makes any sense at all and how inept not only the team is at heisting, but also everyone else is at noticing that something is most definitely off about this. Even the color grading at times. So much of it feels like you're watching a parody or comedy skit, hardly any of the cast and crew were in on the joke and they just keep waiting for a punchline that was never written. But if you go in with the right expectations (and with a movie called "Money Plane" and the legend surrounding it already, it's almost hard not to at this point), you can have a blast. Unfortunately, they never really manage to lean into how stupid their movie is, but you can easily make your own drinking game and be immensely entertained by all this low-budget insanity. Don't forget to drink every time someone says "Money Plane" (onscreen titles included) or "crypto"!
Patrick Lamont aside, the acting in this hackneyed effort is as wooden as your garden fence. Its laughably bad at times and never achieves liftoff as either an action movie or a heist movie.
A great bad-movie, fascinatingly bizarre in it's ineptitude and tone. It should be a joke but it isn't. Money Plane.
