Dure mission pour Jake Donahue, un flic new-yorkais spécialiste de kickboxing : son chef l'expédie en Thaïlande pour mettre fin aux agissements de malfrats qui organisent des combats d'arts martiaux. Ces affrontements doivent obligatoirement se solder par la mort de l'un des deux protagonistes - le tou filmé en direct et revendu à prix d'or à des amateurs un peu particuliers ! Dans un final époustouflant, Jake affrontera le monstrueux Khan, responsable dix ans plus tôt de la mort de son jeune frère.

Another average American martial arts movie that tries at least to b ring a bit of originality into the story. For fans.
Despite being utterly ridiculous, a total rip-off, and with absolutely horrendous acting, The King of the Kickboxers is an absolute charmer. Pretty much nobody can act, but the lines are delivered with great intensity and belief, and there's never a dull moment. The action is also top-notch for what this film actually is. The King of the Kickboxers fall straight into the "so bad that it's good" basket, and is actually very much worth a watch. It's actually quite weird that I haven't seen this one before, as these kinds of films were everything back in my early teens...
