More travelogue than movie although it’s always a pleasure to see Andrea Riseborough. Sadly, she is surrounded by uninteresting characters, and the movie, while occasionally thoughtful, is a bit of a slog to sit through.
[AtlàntidaFF] An introspective look at a character who is marked by trauma, that makes her look at the past with melancholy and the future with uncertainty. Focused on mood, well reflected by an Andrea Riseborough performance that internalizes emotions, there is a certain poetic languor. The British character reflects the paradox of the West in the destruction and "reconstruction" of the Middle East.
Drama Queen of the Nile. This romance is one of those movies where (I'm sure) the writer /director films her personal life but gives it a happy ending. Dear directors: Entertain or instruct me, but don't make me watch a 1998 mixed media, travel DVD-ROM of your therapy.
**An unfortunate waste of time and talent.** While Andrea Riseborough beautifully conveys the burden that years of sorrow and regret bring, everything else is very bland and mundane. The metaphor here to archaeology is a simplistic one and might’ve even been something worth exploring in a short film.
